What it is
A third-generation topical retinoid, available both by prescription and (since 2016) over-the-counter — the best-tolerated first-line retinoid, unclogging pores and calming breakouts with less irritation than older retinoids like tretinoin.
How it works
Selectively binds retinoic acid receptor gamma (RAR-γ), normalizing keratinocyte differentiation to prevent clogged pores, with added anti-inflammatory action.
