What it is

A humectant naturally present in skin, used at low concentrations for hydration and at higher concentrations (typically 10%+) as a keratolytic for thickened, rough, or scaly skin (e.g. keratosis pilaris, calluses).

How it works

Humectant; also upregulates the skin's own ceramide production
